i have been lately feeling dubious about the club i have joined, i will explain, last week we started a tournament using the gale force nine chart to get up so the first game i played was blood angels versus a vintage blood angels army i gave the guy a pretty good kicking and then after two mistakes one movement and one consolidation i missed the two objectives that would have secured victory.
the second game is the one i have the most complaints about firstlky it was blood angels versus tau and the guy took a whole 45 minutes to deploy which already had my back up but then every turn took 30 mins to decide what to do then he still had to put it in action by this time i wanted to pack up and concede as it was soul destroying and to add insult to injury this guy had why i call a uber unit of crisis suits that nothing can put a dent in it and if you do eventually get a wound it hits a drone and not the suit.... arrrrrrrrggggghhhh!
my point is if you go out have no competition or nobody wants to take you on because you over think every situtaion then want joy can you get from the game. what i try to do is put out a balanced force with some squishy units and some harder units that will try to get the job done i am also a game player which i think means that you play the game for the benefit of entertainment. if somebody forgets to do something remind them or let them do it when they remember they havent done it i.e oh no i forgot to consolidate that unit, well thats fine do it now before i move anything i want to get a loss or a victory on my merit not because somebody forgot something.
the next night i played a newer guy to 40k and he had an army because he liked the mnodels cool i thought a guy like me who is playing to play well i had the best game of 40k i have had in a long time i lost objectives 2 to 1 but when we finished we were discussing it for 30mins after and the misses the dice the fun we had had it brought me back to the realism this is a game so the next time i come up against a pro who is getting paid for playing i will look at it two ways.
the first my army comp has got this guy scared and he has to think everything through so he doesnt make any mistakes that i can take advantage of
the second just feel pity for him as i seem to be getting all the joy from the game and he is getting all the stress
all i wanted was to vent some aggression i had so hopefully you will take something from this.
i have drawn up alist that i thougvht would be nfun going along the white scars style for an expansion for the blood angels
